Parineeti Chopra is feeling competitive these days. Even though Alia Bhatt is her junior, Pari was heard talking about how Highway is getting tremendous buzz and Alia’s role is getting rave reviews from those who have seen it. A source reveals that the reason for her insecurity is that Parineeti is a huge Imitiaz Ali fan and was actually wanting to bag Highway, but lost it to Alia. Clearly, these two are the freshest faces who will compete with each other in the coming year for critical acclaim.

In fact, when Alia appeared on Koffee With Karan, and was asked about insecurity, she said, “There are times that you do feel insecure, and I feel that’s very important for me, because then I work harder.” When asked who makes her insecure, Alia didn’t hesitate to name Parineeti. “I think she’s fantastic. I think she’s so good that I wish I was that good. She’s so effortless, and her command over the language is something that I love.”

But later, when it was the rapid fire round, and Karan Johar asked Alia who she would gift the ‘Style for Dummies’ book to, Alia chose Parineeti, stating that she’s a good actor who could do better in the style zone.

Yep! It’s quite a sexy and bootylicious figure that Parineeti Chopra cuts here. She may not be size zero but she sure has all the right curves and knows how to flaunt them with style.

But this body doesn’t come easy. We’re told that during the shooting for Hasee Toh Phasee, Parineeti was very specifically told to stay off junk food like cupcakes, chocolate and pizza, in an effort to maintain her curvaceous bod.

This of course, was no easy task because Parineeti is a self-confessed foodie. In fact, when we interviewed her back in April 2013, she told us that the best way for her fans to meet her in person was to “Just get me some pizza. Then I’ll surely never forget you throughout your life.”

Parineeti’s role in HTP requires her to sport a lean look and on the last day of the shoot, director Vinil Mathew actually presented her with a box of cupcakes to make up for the long months of abstinence on her part.

Says Vinil Mathew in a media note, “I had categorically told Parineeti to stay away from eating junk food as I wanted her to maintain her look in the film. She loves pizzas and cupcakes and because I felt bad about depriving her from her comfort food, I rewarded her with a box of cupcakes on the last day of the film’s shoot.”

This just in: Aamir Khan continues to live up to his Bollywood “prankster” reputation. His latest victim? Anushka Sharma! *LOL* Meanwhile my Industrywalla reported icy vibes between Sonakshi Sinha and Arbaaz Khan at Salman Khan’s New Year’s Eve bash. Here’s why Salman’s baby bro is SO upset with ‘ol doe eyes *lol*

Meanwhile, Malaika Arora Khan and Neha Dhupia took up blades against Bollywood boys and their facial hair for a PR activity this week, which I thought was pretty hilarious!

Madhuri Dixit Nene, Huma Qureshi and Kalki Koechlin all broke out their desi style for the premiere of Dedh Ishqiya (sadly, we were not impressed, waaaay too aunty.) We did love the movie however and gave it a whopping 3.5 stars – read Rashmi’s review!

In birthdays this week: Bipasha Basu celebrated her 35th on January 7th. Farhan Akhtar turned 40 on the 9th along with Farah Khan who turned 49. While the Madhubala of Television and Jhalak Dikhla Jaa champion - Dhrasti Dhami – turned 29 on the 10th.

My Industrywalla reported that Eli Avram was shocked to be mistaken for Sunny Leone by (not her) fans recently, but most MissMalini.com readers thought she should have taken that as a compliment :) We also heard that a little Parineeti Chopra v/s Alia Bhatt rivalry brewing, and it’s possible Parineeti is developing a bit of a diva-esque attitude, uh oh!

Industrywalla also reported that Hrithik Roshan managed to get Arjun Rampal dropped from his agency. We did TONS of airport spotting through the week as Ranbir Kapoor returned from his vacay in NY with girlfriend Katrina Kaif (although she didn’t fly back with him). He was wearing a beanie and his beats headset. Even the hot new couple, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh came back from New York where they were spotted often by fans - Ranveer also in a beenie! (Same Same, but different?) John Abraham landed from LA (where his wife Priya’s parents are based) probably looking the shabbiest of them all in shorts a baseball cap and chappals!

Jacqueline Fernandez arrived back from family time in Bahrain while Arjun & Mehr Rampal were spotted returning too but on a different night than Sussanne Roshan who was interestingly picked up by Hrithik’s manager. Babies Aaradhya Bachchan & Viaan Raj Kundra returned to Mumbai carried by their slickly dressed mommies Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shilpa Shetty.

Parineeti Chopra and co-star Siddharth Malhotra have kicked off their Hasee toh Phasee press promos. The chirpy actress picked a pleated teal maxi dress for the occasion. She styled her hair into a sleek ponytail and chose smokey eyes and statement hair. The colour looks fabulous and I love the hairdo but the creases on her outfit put me off a bit. That teeny, tiny grouse aside; she does look good. What’s your verdict?

The young stars of Hasee Toh Phasee, Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra were spotted at the famed Mehboob Studios in Mumbai, yesterday.

The duo have been in publicity overdrive to promote their upcoming rom-com. Sidharth plays the role of a boy who is introverted, lost and very sentimental. According to reports, it’s not a typical hero role. Parineeti, on the other hand, plays a girl who is extroverted and happy-go-lucky.

Of course, like any Bollywood film, there will be the regulation love triangle thrown in, for good measure.

And in case you’re wondering what the movie title is all about, co-producer Karan Johar went on to explain, “Hasee Toh Phasee is a cool expression that we thought went with this film’s energy. Actually, I don’t think the title has anything to do with the film. It was a good title, it had a nice ring to it, everyone liked it, it looked good on the poster too… so we used it.” They also said that Vikas Bahl from Phantom Films came up with the title, and he laughingly said that it came to him because he had a fight with his wife that morning and he thought, ‘Agar woh aaj hasee, toh phasee’.

While most of their contemporaries got ready for and attended the Filmfare awards, the Hasee Toh Phasee duo, Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra, spent last night promoting their film instead. That’s some dedication! The two young stars shot for an episode of the popular Comedy Nights With Kapil, which (we’re assuming) will air next weekend, closer to the release date of their upcoming flick. The film is scheduled for a February 7th release.

To hold you over till then, check out some pictures of their shoot – the two look adorable together, and it seems like Kapil and his team were up to their usual shenanigans! In fact, by the looks of it, they packed up very late – Kapil tweeted around 5am that he had just finished shooting. They, perhaps, had to shoot portions of the show that did not involve the two stars.

It was a busy weekend for our Bollywood celebrities. Some promoted their film on television shows or at events. Others watched a play, played cricket or attended a charity event. Here’s what they were up to on the weekend:

Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor recorded for their appearance on India’s Got Talent. The three had a blast and even shook a leg for the audience. They seem to have amazing chemistry and we’re waiting to check out Gunday.

The Celebrity Cricket League matches were flagged off on Saturday. The first teams to compete were Mumbai Heroes and Veer Marathis. Sohail Khan is one of the owners of the Mumbai Heroes team and Riteish Deshmukh is one of the owners of the Veer Marathis team. Of course, Salman Khan was on the pitch to support Sohail’s team and promote Jai Ho. Kind of a two balls with one bat situation. ;)

And since we’re talking about cricket, cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar took in Raell Padamsee‘s version of Grease. Of course, when you have Sachin in the house, you have to invite him to say a few words and he happily obliged.

We had wondered how their recent break-up would affect their film. Even though we hear they have patched up, according to DNA, they have pushed back their shooting dates for Jagga Jasoos. Well, we’ll have to wait some more and only then decide if it was worth the wait.

If Mumbai Mirror is to be believed, Salman Khan‘s newest heroine, Daisy Shah has let the starry airs go to her head. Although many are aware that she was a dancer in choreographer Ganesh Acharya‘s troop, not many would know that she doesn’t even acknowledge her teacher anymore. To make it worse, Ganesh Acharya hasn’t even worked with Salman Khan in the recent past. While it’s great that she’s a part of Jai Ho, it seems a bit unfair to treat Ganesh Acharya this way.

With their rom-com, Hasee Toh Phasee, releasing on February 7th, actors Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra are going all out to promote the flick and make sure it becomes a super hit among the younger crowd.

On Republic Day, the duo made it all the way to Thane where they performed to a few songs from the film and interacted with their fans at a mall.

Parineeti Chopra was recently announced as the brand ambassador for a brand of scooters and at the launch event, she wore a mustard jumpsuit with textured detailing on the bodice, by Sonia Mehra and Swatee Singh.

She was joined by actor Salman Khan and the two camped it up on stage by getting astride the scooter and posing for the posse of photographers.

However, we can’t help but be a little underwhelmed with Parineeti’s look. While the colour of the jumpsuit looks fab on her, we think the silhouette makes her look heavier on her hips. And what’s with those grey pumps? Black or tan would have been a much better option, don’t you think?

And finally, we think that her hairstyle (which falls flat) leaves much to be desired.

Wearing a fire engine red crop top and hip-hugging blue jeans, actress Parineeti Chopra was spotted promoting Hasee Toh Phasee in Mumbai, yesterday.

While we loved the big bumblebee glares, we are not convinced about the patch of lace on her top.

The colour does wonders for Parineeti and the jeans do full-service to her ample curves. But that patch of lace looks simply out of place on this ensemble.

Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra co-star in a romantic comedy, Hasee Toh Phasee. The origin of their film’s title is actually a dialogue exchange between Salman Khan and Kajol in the Bollywood movie, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya. So much of the acting in a romantic comedy is the chemistry between the actors and how they emote with the most mundane dialogues. And that’s what they spoke about when they appeared on The Front Row. So, here’s an excerpt from their conversation with Anupama Chopra.

Sidharth Malhotra: In K3G (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham), I love the way the couple fights. When they go to London in K3G, and SRK is scolding he says, ”Chandni Chowk ke saare pagal mere ghar mein hain. How they talk, how they fight, I think it’s very cute. I love that in their chemistry. I think it’s amazing. They are the only couple who can pull that off. They look like people who have been living together. Because those are the stupid things you would do. It’s the intimacy that you would have with somebody and talk rubbish, joke around and be cute. I think it’s amazing.
