Exclusive: 10 Minutes with Varun Dhawan & Parineeti Chopra at the Launch of WeChat India!

Internationally popular messaging application WeChat has now launched in India, with Varun Dhawan and Parineeti Chopra as the faces of the brand. The team celebrated their India launch at a recent event with the two brand ambassadors, and we got to have a quick chat with them about what they like about the app, how much fun they had shooting with each other, and – of course – when they plan on doing a film together! I gotta say, these guys are super cute and you can tell that they’ve really had a lot of fun getting to know each other – just check out their interaction, and you’ll know what we mean! (And by the way - someone needs to cast them in a movie together, stat!)
Team MissMalini (Team MM): Why do you pick WeChat over any other messaging application?
Varun Dhawan (VD): Because I think technologically it’s the most advanced one at the moment. It has all the features that one needs. It has voice messenger, motion emoticons – they dance, move according to your emotions. All put together, I think it’s the one for the future.
Parineeti Chopra (PC): The coolest app right now!
Team MM: Who was the last person you chatted with?
PC: [points at Varun] Him.
VD: [points at Parineeti] Yeah.

Team MM: Who is your 2am chat buddy?
PC: [looking at Varun] We’ve chatted at 2am!
VD: We have chatted at 2am. We’ve chatted only post 12, after coming home from shooting or something.
PC: Ya, and then I have to tell him, “Now let me sleep, get off.”
VD: No, she says, “Chal, bye!”
PC: Chal bye. [laughs]
Team MM: What is your favourite emoticon?
PC: There’s one dancing one, no? [dances]
VD: There’s one with the head going like this. [jerks head]
PC: [laughs] Ya, with lots of arrogance. They’re hilarious, I’m telling you, you have to try these emoticons. They’re hilarious.
VD: Malini, you better try them.
PC: Malini!

Team MM: If you had to send a WeChat message to your MissMalini fans, what would it be?
VD: I think it would be the one with the heart, because thank you for all the good stuff you’ve said. And even the bad stuff, because that’s all constructive as well. But ya, just thank you for all the love and support.
PC: Ya, same.
VD: [looks at her and laughs]
Parineeti Chopra
Team MM: What was it like working with each other on the ads?
VD: It was really easy, honestly I didn’t feel like I was working with her for the first time. There was no breaking of ice or anything like that.
PC: It was very easy to work with him. His approach towards acting and my approach was very similar. He’s ready to rehearse with me, ready to talk about things we want to do, he’s open to improvisations… he’ll just react to me in a take. So there was no awkwardness; it was very comfortable.
VD: And she’s really helpful. Honestly, contrary to popular belief -
PC: Aye, shut up.
VD: [puts arm around Parineeti] Arey, look at this anger. But she’s very, very helpful, honestly. Like even if you’re giving your shot she’ll encourage you, she’ll tell you – remember that sun thing?
PC: Ah, the sun thing, ya. Tell them, tell them.
VD: There was so much of sunlight coming into my eyes, so she taught me this trick where you look towards the sun and you shut your eyes, and then you just open them. So you don’t feel -
PC: So you don’t blink.
VD: And I thought she was just pulling my legs, but I swear it actually works.

Team MM: When will you be doing a film together?
PC: Soon, I hope! I’m dying to do a film with him.
VD: We’ve been offered a lot of films together, but nothing has materialised. We were discussing, actually, while shooting this ad that we should do something really…
PC: Reeeally energetic.
VD: Some phadu subject.
PC: He’s one of the few people I think, apart from Ranveer, who shares that energy in our personal lives, so I think if we do a film together it’ll be really good.
VD: Let’s see, hopefully. Tell MissMalini to produce it. [grins]
PC: Tell MissMalini to write a script!

Like we told you, Varun Dhawan and Parineeti Chopra make an adorable pair, and more than that, it seems like they’ve enjoyed working together. The two have already done an ad for WeChat India, and we’re definitely hoping that they’ll be working on a film together soon. Varun told us that they’ve actually been offered quite a few films with each other, but nothing has worked out as of yet – still, they’re both keen on doing something phadu and energetic as a lead pair, so let’s hope the offers keep pouring in and something works out! Sidharth Malhotra & Parineeti Chopra to Pucker Up?

There’s much ado about a kiss in Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra‘s Hasee Toh Phasee! MissMalini readers Yasmina and Imen wrote in to tell us that it’s quite possible the two will be shooting for a kiss soon, except that the team is on the fence about whether or not they want to include one. And surprisingly, this time around it’s not the actors who have any reservations, but rather the makers themselves!

Strangely, the team is worried about the kiss taking away from the film in the sense that if it gets too steamy, it wouldn’t fit right with the simple love story. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that dilemma before, especially since the actors are quite alright with doing the scene – they’ve both done on-screen kisses before and seem to be willing to do it if required by the directors.
Guess we’ll have to wait to hear about which way they go. What do you think?

Bollywood Pays Dr. Ashok Chopra Their Last Respects

After it was announced that Dr. Ashok Chopra, Priyanka Chopra’s father, had passed away on Saturday, many of her colleagues congregated at the hospital and later at her residence, to offer support and their condolences.
Later in the day, they all attended his last rites as well. Among them were Shah Rukh Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Karan Johar and Priyanka’s cousin, Parineeti Chopra.

She paired her outfit with grey suede pumps from Forever New that went surprisingly well with her frock. Get This Look: Parineeti Chopra Goes High Street for Trailer Launch

For the trailer launch of her upcoming film, Hasee Toh Phasee, Parineeti Chopra‘s look was put together by going the high street route. She wore a striped high neck bodycon midi dress from Koovs and paired it with grey high heel court shoes from Zara TRF. To add some colour and define the waist, she chose a yellow textured belt. The accessories were kept minimal and make-up, clean and fresh. She was styled by Nitasha Gaurav.

When asked by the press if Sidharth Malhotra was indeed trapped when she smiled (following the literal translation of the phrase, hasee toh phase), she replied that it was the other way round. When Sidharth smiled, in fact, everyone else was mesmerised/trapped.

“I Love Maneesh Sharma”– Parineeti Chopra

Maneesh Sharma gave Parineeti Chopra her first break back in 2011 with Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, so has always been a special person in her life for that reason. In fact, he was even the one who began encouraging her to get into acting while she was working in the marketing department of Yash Raj Films (they met when she handled Band Baaja Baaraat). They even worked together later for Shuddh Desi Romance, and you could tell that they shared a close relationship. For that reason, perhaps, people have been whispering for a while now that the two are in a relationship.

On their part, however, they’ve always denied being together. In a recent interview, Parineeti opened up a little more about Maneesh, saying that she loves him, but they’re not dating:
I love Maneesh and he has changed my life, but I’m not in a relationship with him. I can wake up Maneesh in the middle of the night if I have a problem. I get along with people older to me as they talk more sense. Maneesh is 33 and one of the most wonderful people I have met. He is perfectly understanding of people and tries to understand why the person may be doing something and I have learnt that from him. He has taught me to be patient with people. He is very intelligent and has the gift of the gab. I love him, I love him a lot and he is the greatest person I have met. I consider him my best friend. My parents too really like him and every time I buy something like a car or house, my mother will send him a text saying, ‘Thank you again and it’s because of you, she is here.’ He is the angel in my life. He will see you for what you are and will fight for you and give you another chance. Everytime I see him, I feel like touching his feet and saying thank you.
In fact, Parineeti has always insisted that she sees Maneesh as more of a mentor, and whenever an article about them is published, she just calls him and they laugh about it.

The Hasee Toh Phasee actors, who were shooting late night for a film magazine cover didn’t share great chemistry during the photo session. A source reveals that Parineeti did most of the talking while Sid was reduced to following her orders! Pari who is becoming one of the hottest actresses of the year has been flooded with offers from every producer and director. However, her attitude and mood has also had a change. A source reveals that the usually modest and chilled out Parineeti is now falling in the cliched trap of Bollywood and behaving like every other star making some big demands for herself and her crew!
Well, that’s sad to hear.
